“The best part of my job is working closely with families to develop a unique plan to preserve and protect assets from the rising costs of long-term care.”
Nathan Simpson, a partner with Cooper, Adel, Vu & Associates, joined the firm in 2011 as a member of our Healthcare Planning Team. Nathan especially enjoys meeting with families with special needs children to plan their estates to preserve assets for their future needs. Nathan has a personal mission to inform seniors, who are often unaware, about benefits that may be available to help them pay for long term health care, and to determine how they can legally obtain benefits at the earliest point possible with full disclosure.
Nathan is also there for them when the going gets tough, as evidenced by his experience in administrative hearings and appeals on behalf of his clients. Nathan meets with Healthcare Planning and Trust clients in our Monroe and Sidney offices.
Nathan has presented informational seminars for seniors around Ohio regarding special needs and also crisis planning. Attorney Simpson has been admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals For Veterans Claims in addition to receiving accreditation from the Department of Veterans Affairs.

Interview
Where did you grow up?
New Carlisle, Ohio.
Why did you decide to become an attorney?
I wanted a career where I could use my skills to help people plan and prevent future problems.
Why do you love your job?
I was always interested in areas of the law where I could use my knowledge to provide counseling and prevent problems, rather than simply being reactive after problems have already occurred.
Why Cooper, Adel, Vu?
I think the most unique thing about the firm is the people. Our attorneys and staff make a real effort to educate our clients, and communicate complex concepts in a simple way to make sure their plans are successful.
What should clients know about you?
I have personal experience in the area of Special Needs Estate Planning that I gained while assisting my parents in crafting a plan to make sure that my brother is taken care of in the event of their passing.
Who are your clients?
Our clients come from all walks of life, from all asset levels. We believe that estate planning isn’t just for the wealthy, that everyone should be able to make things as easy as possible at their death.
What are your clients concerns? Worries?
Our clients have many concerns, such as nursing home costs, caring for special needs children after death and just making it easier for those they leave behind.
