IRS Tax Filing Season Delay
The IRS has announced a delay to the start of the 2020 tax filing season. The agency will begin accepting and processing returns on Friday, February 12. Normally, the tax filing period begins in late January. The delay was a result of the IRS needing more time to prepare after the Covid Relief Act took effect in late December 2020.
The IRS is recommending that taxpayers submit their returns electronically and use direct deposit as soon as they are ready.
