April is National Stress Awareness Month

“Reality is the leading cause of stress amongst those in touch with it”

– Jane Wagner

What’s stressing you out and what are you doing about it? Interestingly, Stress Awareness Month has been held every April since 1992. To find out more about the Health Resource Network’s educational programs… https://stressawarenessmonth.com

Since you’re on our law firm’s Facebook Page (or blog!), we will assume that some aspect of estate planning is stressing you out, such as what to do about…

    • A second marriage
    • Family members who may not agree on your healthcare
    • Taxes that may reduce what you can leave to your spouse and/or family
    • Providing for your spouse when you are gone
    • Protecting assets from a nursing home spend down
    • Making sure your special needs child is provided for at your death
    • Understanding the impact of new laws on your old estate plan
    • … and many other life, illness and death issues

Here are some steps you can take TODAY to do something about these stressful concerns:

    • Make a list of your assets – real estate, bank accounts, stocks, bonds, retirement accounts like IRAs and 401(k)s, insurance policies
    • Think about your family and friends – who can help in a crisis or after you’re gone
    • Think about your health – are you concerned about your care and how you can pay for it if you are not able to take care of yourself
    • Think about where you want your assets to go at your death – any special considerations?
    • Attend a free, educational seminar – [link]
    • Watch a free, educational webinar – [link]
    • Set up a free consultation with an estate and elder law planning attorney

Remember…

“If you don’t know where you are going, you’ll end up someplace else.”
